Frequently asked questions

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a dynamic, resistance-based form of movement performed on a reformer machine. It’s designed to strengthen, lengthen, and align your body through controlled, low-impact exercises — building deep core strength, improving posture, and supporting mobility.

Is Pilates just for women?

Not at all. Pilates is for every body, all genders, all ages, all fitness levels. Whether you're new to movement or a seasoned athlete, there's a place for you here.

I’m nervous and a bit intimidated about attending.

We completely understand. Part of our mission at ARAEYA is to make each person who walks through our doors feel completely relaxed and welcome in our studio. Our instructors will guide you every step of the way, and our community is warm, welcoming, and supportive. Once you walk through the door, we’ve got you.

How do I access the upstairs studio?

When you arrive, come into our foyer downstairs and press the buzzer — your instructor will let you up. If the door is open, come on up no need to buzz. Come to the very top of the stairs. If you arrive more than 10 minutes early, we kindly ask you to wait patiently in the downstairs foyer while the previous class finishes. Your instructor will buzz you up 10 minutes before your class starts, so you have time to settle in and get ready for your class.

Do you offer private sessions?

Yes! We offer 1:1 and small group sessions tailored to your individual needs — ideal if you're new, recovering from injury, pre/postnatal, or simply want a more personalised experience. Get in touch to book.

Which class should I book if I’m a beginner?

We recommend starting with our Beginner class to get familiar with the reformer and build strong foundations. Every studio is different — we suggest taking 1 to 3 beginner classes before progressing to Dynamic. Our instructors are here to guide you, so feel free to have a chat before or after class.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, activewear that moves with you.. Grip socks are required for safety on the reformer. We have socks available to purchase at the studio if needed.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself and a water bottle and grip socks if you have them! Grip socks are essential, and we have some available to buy at reception.

Can I buy grip socks at the studio?

Yes, we stock a selection of stylish, high-quality grip socks available to purchase at reception.

Do you have changing rooms?

We do not have a dedicated changing room area however we do have bathroom facilities available where you can change.

How long are the classes?

All of our classes run for 50 minutes

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before class so you have time to settle in, check in with your instructor, and get comfortable on the reformer.

Where can I park?

There’s street parking nearby, plus a car park directly across the road from the studio on Downpatrick Street. We recommend arriving a little early to allow time to park.

Can I use my phone during class?

We are happy for you to take a picture before or after class. To maintain a calm, focused private space for everyone, we ask that you keep phones on silent and put away during class. Please do not film during our classes. Need to step out for something urgent? No problem, just let us know.

How often should I attend?

For the best results, we recommend 2–3 classes per week. That said this depends on your goal and other training activities. Speak to a member of our team and we chat about what is right for you.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We have a 12-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 12 hours before your class to avoid being charged. This allows us to offer your spot to someone else and keep the schedule flowing smoothly. Unfortunately any cancellations after the 12 hour window can’t be refunded.
